How To Measure Your Head
- Start at Your Forehead
Place the measuring tape across the middle of your forehead, just above your eyebrows. This is where the hat will naturally sit. - Wrap Around Your Head
Bring the tape around the widest part of your head. Make sure it goes just above your ears and sits level all the way around. - Check the Fit
Pull the tape so it feels snug but not tight—your hat should sit comfortably without squeezing. - Read the Measurement
Note the number where the tape meets back at your forehead. Always measure in centimetres for the most accurate sizing. - Double Check
Repeat the process once or twice to ensure consistency. A second person can help make sure the tape stays level and flat.
Choosing Your Fit
Think about how you want to wear your hat:
- Snug Fit: Sits firmly on your head, won’t blow off easily.
- Comfort Fit: A little looser, allowing more airflow and easier wear for longer periods.
- Tilted Fit: If you prefer to wear your hat slightly forward or back, measure where you’d like it to sit.
Head Shapes
Extra Long Oval
An extra long oval head shape is narrow side to side and longer front to back. Hats often feel tight at the forehead and back, with slight gapping at the temples. A subtle adjustment or filler along the sides can help achieve a balanced, comfortable fit.
Long Oval
A long oval head shape is slightly elongated front to back. Hats can feel tight at the front and back while leaving a small gap on the sides. A minor adjustment or hat filler along the sides usually provides a perfect fit.
Oval
An oval head shape is the most common and typically provides an even fit all around. Hats designed in a standard oval shape should sit comfortably without noticeable pressure points or gaps.
Round
A round head shape is wider side to side and shorter front to back. Hats with a rounder crown fit best, as standard or long oval shapes can feel loose at the front and back or snug at the temples.
Finding Your Size
While we offer a variety of hats in different crown and brim shapes, the head shapes can also vary. Our Open Crown styles feature a Round Oval head shape, while the Dallas Cattleman has a Long Oval shape.
Although our sizing conversions and charts are accurate, it’s completely normal if your head shape differs slightly from the underbrim of your hat.
